Another necklace celebrating the extraordinary textural love affair between exceptional quality AAA+ Grade saltwater Akoya keshi pearls from Japan, delicate pastel coloured raw sapphire nuggets from Montana in the U.S.A. and lavish 24k gold plated sterling silver (vermeil) charms and granulated spacers from Bali.
Keshi (Japanese = ‘poppy’) are essentially a by-product of saltwater pearl farming occurring as a result of cultivation mishaps or accidents or injury to the oyster. Like natural pearls they consist entirely of nacre. These are tiny and an unusual silver white that shows up best in the photo showing the necklace worn as a wrap-around. They are the perfect foil to the gorgeous Montana sapphires, the colours of which in this case are contrasting shades of deep red, pink, white and blue. The organic shapes of both the pearls and sapphires bring an entirely modern feel to a necklace that has at its core a Mughal aesthetic, dripping with gold and colour.
Wear this necklace as a single long strand, layered with other necklaces, as a double wrap-around, or perhaps as a wrap around bracelet. Stunning!
