There’s something just so mouth-wateringly covetable about the intricacy and richness of Indian Mughal jewellery with its riot of coloured stones, pearls, diamonds, enamels and gold, and its design aesthetic or philosophy which seems to be “More is more”.
This multi-strand necklace is an homage to the Mughal style and, while certainly not minimalist, is still sleek enough to pair with some of the sharpest garments coming off the catwalks. Something form-fitting and elegant comes to mind.
For this piece, Mughal has been imagined in beautiful A Grade malachite and 24k vermeil (gold plated silver) from both Bali and Thailand, the former on a base of sterling silver and the latter on a base of 97% silver. The intricate patterning of charms and reducers from Bali, where the jewellery owes much to Indian cultural influences, lends itself perfectly to the Mughal sensibility.
Length shortest strand: 21.5 inches/54.5cm; length longest strand: 23 inches/58.5cm.
