For all that agate is one of the most prevalent stones on earth, being a banded form of translucent, microcrystalline quartz, it still has the ability to surprise and delight with its range of colours and forms. No two agates are exactly alike, so each source produces its own characteristics.
The stunning facetted agate nugget beads used in this simple bead strand are from the Persian Gulf and show agate at Nature’s best, with a range of colours, banding and dendrites, and a very fine, hard texture that has taken a polish beautifully. The natural colouration of this beautiful stone has been picked up and enhanced with high quality, disco facetted rounds of Mookaite jasper from Mooka in Western Australia and just the merest metallic sparkle in the form of plain sterling silver rondelles and a discrete sterling silver toggle clasp. This necklace of course goes well with earthy and boho outfits but, owing to the superb quality facetting, looks especially good with stark Autumn and Winter greys.
This is one of the first necklaces I ever made, and while I have often thought of altering it, I just can’t bring myself to do so. If, however, you would prefer that it be lengthened or shortened slightly, I am able to do this for a small fee.
